Saying Goodbye to Smokeyville

 Saying Goodbye to Smokeyville

Was a time when I'd get plowed,

Was in a band, so it's allowed.

Always seemed to make the music very bright.

But sometimes upon playback,

We had really gone off track.

Hard to focus when you're higher than a kite.

So I stashed away the bong,

As we tried to track this song.

Grumpy cusses started showin' out, you bet.

"I can't play without some smoke."

"C'mon dude, you are a joke!"

When we finished, I broke out 'jazz cigarettes'.

The track, so tight is was obscene.

All the notes were nice and clean,

And with this, we won the 'Battle of the Bands'.

Radio play was pretty cool,

Though some members would still drool,

So longevity with the group was in their hands.

Well, I hung around awhile,

'til I found a band with style,

And were looking for a guy with guitar tricks.

But I won't forget the day,

That I put the bong away.

Started dishing out some major frickin' licks!
