CUTE
CUTE
Cute is a child's first drawing.
Kittens, as they stretch their toes.
A baby's first steps.
Her new party dress.
A butterfly that lands on your nose.
An idea that filled with whimsy.
A ridiculously bad dad joke.
A girl in tight shorts,
(riding bareback, of course)
Fanning flames she so easily stokes.
But when a person puts pen to paper,
Writing rhyme and speaking in prose,
Take a moment or two,
To study it through,
And understand their guts are exposed.
Be it drum and fife or orchestral,
Guitar or piano or flute,
There's a great many things,
That makes a poet's heart sing,
But the last thing that works is "cute".
